Advancing Black Pathways

Financial literacy curriculum for minority entrepreneurs

As part of its 30-billion dollar racial equity commitment, Chase partnered with Advancing Black Pathways (ABP) to offer free courses on financial-literacy to American, minority entrepreneurs seeking bank funding.

ABP provided instructors, and Chase called on us, their content agency, to develop the curriculum. Drawing on a decade of teaching experience, I gathered a small team and set about it. Our research included interviews with banking experts, educators, and minority business owners.

There was a fine line to walk. Our audience ranged from aspiring to savvy entrepreneur. Information had to be deep yet accessible and also unique. We aimed for highly practical with plenty of hands-on exercises, quizzes for retention, and real-world stories for context.

The result was massively successful. Requests for more courses to expand the curriculum came pouring in.
